In some cases, you may take a refund of the value of what you have built up in the pension plan. You will be entitled to a refund if:
You have completed less than 2 years of service in your company plan at the time of wind up
You left the company before July 2002 with less than 5 years of service
If you decide to take a refund of contributions, in some cases you will be giving up the right to your employer’s contributions and in some very exceptional cases you may be giving up the right to a surplus pay out.
Once the wind up date has passed you will no longer be entitled to a refund of contributions
